They would not let me sell at a fair price

After two years in a gold IRA with American Hartford Gold, I needed to liquidate some holdings to cover medical bills. The buyback process was a nightmare. They offered me roughly 55% of what I had originally paid - on coins they had told me would "hold their value." When I pushed back, they explained that the "collectible premium" does not transfer on resale and that I would only receive melt value. This was never explained when I bought them. The original sales pitch emphasized how gold "always goes up" and how these particular coins were chosen for their appreciation potential. I ended up selling at a loss of over $30,000 on a $72,000 investment. The worst part is that gold prices had actually gone up during that period - I still lost money because the markup was so extreme.
